What to Expect for Your First Massage Therapy Appointment
Massage Therapy should always be a restorative experience
Which is why Capria Care Collective spends so much time making our space a warm, inviting retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We are constantly learning, researching, and teaching massage techniques to serve you better.
There is nothing more important to us than you and your wellbeing during our massage therapy sessions and our only goal is to have you walk out the door feeling more at ease — both in body and mind.
Here’s are some of the ways we do that.
OUR SPACE
If you looked up the word tranquillity in the dictionary, we’d like to think that a picture of our office would be there right next to it, as a shining example of how to do tranquillity right.
Fresh, modern, and filled with tropical greenery, it’s that perfect balance of clean and clinical, so you can feel at peace from the moment you walk through the door.
We also focus on keeping our space hypoallergenic and sanitized because everyone deserves a moment of fresh zen and our mission is to provide that feeling.
OUR MASSAGE THERAPY TABLE
It’s all well and good having a nice-looking space to come to, but you’re likely going to spend most of your time on our massage table and, at least some of that time, you’re going to have your eyes closed.
Prior to your arrival, our massage therapists will prep the treatment room by sanitizing every single touchpoint, including the table and the face piece.
The table will be dressed for each session with crisp, clean sheets and a fresh blanket especially for you. The room will be heated to a balmy 23 degrees celsius so that your body’s only job is to be snug and relaxed.
On cold days, it’s the warm hug you need. On hot days it’s the cool, air-conditioned space your body will crave.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
When you arrive for a massage therapy session, the time is yours to do with what you want. If you want to chat, we’ll chat. If you want a 60-minute nap with your massage, those are free for the taking too.
This is a no-judgement zone and you never need to apologize for:
Having hairy body parts ( or not shaving)
Showing up sweaty or after an active workout
Crying during your session
Wearing sweats to your appointment
Arriving late (although we do appreciate it when you try to get here on time)
Not wanting to fully disrobe
It’s important to us that you feel welcome and comfortable because these sessions are for you. We want you to feel safe asking questions, sharing needs, and telling us what is and isn’t working for you.
Massage therapy is most successful when there is a feeling of mutual trust between the patient and the therapist. We are constantly working hard to earn your trust and we would never expect that you blindly trust us or put your body in our hands merely because we say you should.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT OF US
Compassionate, purposeful care. That’s what we strive for every day. And from your first massage therapy session you can expect us to:
Check-in with how your feeling & what’s been going on in your life
Assess & reassess where things are improving, declining or otherwise needing attention
Communicate everything we’re doing and ask for your feedback regularly
Ask for your consent before placing our hands on your body, both before the treatment and before touching potentially sensitive areas
Offer suggestions on maintenance exercises & mental health strategies
Listen to your needs & support you thoroughly
In this space, there is nothing more important to us than you, so you can always expect us to go above and beyond to help you move through life easier and in the most pain free way possible.
