Many injuries and movement concerns can be effectively assessed and managed through virtual appointments. Your physiotherapist will guide you through movement assessments, explain what’s happening, and create a personalized treatment plan you can confidently follow at home.

Yes, even during an online appointment, your physiotherapist can assess how you’re moving, identify what’s contributing to your pain or injury, and build a treatment plan you can follow at home, all through a video call. While some conditions do benefit from hands-on treatment, a wide range of injuries, chronic pain, and movement concerns can be effectively managed virtually. If we think you’d be better served in person, we’ll tell you.

No. Generally, you can book directly without a referral. However, some extended health plans require a doctor’s note for continuous treatments. Check your insurance plan for your specific requirements.

No special equipment needed. Our physiotherapists are great at modifying exercises and movements around what you already have at home. If we decide together that a specific piece of equipment would help, we’ll talk it through and send you a link to the best option for your budget.

We can always switch to a phone call if your connection isn’t working out well. However, virtual calls work best when your internet speed is 15mbps or higher. Try to ensure your call goes best by updating your browser and device, checking your internet speed or changing the quality of the video call. Jane has made a troubleshooting guide here for more details.

Our physiotherapist will walk you through a detailed assessment of lifestyle and injury questions and complete any required movement or special tests to help you get to the bottom of your injury and into recovery. While we often don’t work with medical imaging (unless you provide it). We can obtain most of the information that we need about your injury from your assessment.

A phone, tablet, or laptop with a working camera, reliable internet connection and a reasonably quiet space. We’ll send you a secure video link before your appointment. No apps or downloads required.

Most extended health benefit plans cover virtual physiotherapy the same way they cover in-person visits, but coverage varies by plan. Check with your insurer to confirm your specific benefits. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’re happy to help you figure it out.

Yes. We direct bill ICBC and most major extended health benefit providers, so you don’t have to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. Contact us if you want to confirm your specific insurer before booking. We do not bill directly to WorkSafe BC.

Yes. If you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident, your virtual physiotherapy may be covered through your ICBC claim, reach out to us even if you have passed the 12 week pre-approval period. We communicate with your adjuster to get you additional sessions when needed and we can let you know what ICBC is willing to cover from there. Give us a call and we’ll walk you through the process.

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Depending on the area we’re assessing, it can help to wear something that allows easy access. Shorts for knee or hip concerns, a tank top for shoulder issues, that kind of thing. Your physiotherapist will let you know if there’s anything specific to keep in mind.

Initial assessments are 60 or 45 minutes depending on the complexity of your concern and the coverage from your insurer. Some insurers give better coverage for 45 min appointments, and others for 60. Follow-up appointments are typically 30 or 45 minutes. Your physio will let you know which appointment duration is best for you after your initial assessment.

It depends on your condition, your goals, and how you respond to treatment. Some people notice significant improvement after just a few sessions; others benefit from ongoing support over a longer period. Your physiotherapist will give you a realistic sense of what to expect after your initial assessment and will adjust your plan as you progress.
